Why do we experience pain and injury in the muscular and skeletal systems of our body?
There are two common reasons why we experience this sort of pain:
- Accumulative strain –
Repetitive actions, or prolonged overload to our joints, ligaments, nerves or muscles - Specific incident –
Such as accidents, a slip etc or more rarely the result of disease, infection and some forms of arthritis
As Physiotherapist’s, it’s our priority to help you relieve the strain quickly so you can get back to living your life in full function.
Does this sound like you?
Check this list of everyday activities that can be the result of accumulative strain:
- Bending over to work or pick up heavy objects such as bricklaying, gardening, shearing
- Sitting at a computer for long periods each day
- Continually reversing the car by turning your head instead of using the mirrors
- Sporting actions which are repetitive, jogging on hard surfaces, tennis, golf
- Do you bend over to put on your shoes?
- Repeating the same tasks without variation and stretching in breaks (typing / keyboard, painting, manual hand / arm / leg tasks)
- Driving long periods of time
- Do you tend to sit many hours each day?
Don’t you owe it to yourself to be the best “YOU” that you can possibly be?
Finding a better way to move can enable you to continue your life and enjoy the activities you love.
